I HATE Shopping…

I have said it before and I’ll say again and again. I do not love to shop. I’ve tried. I’ve put my best-intended foot forward and envisioned myself to be the girl that swirls into her best outfit, fresh hair, with a totally cute bag and takes off to the trendy stores. Alas, I usually end up empty-handed or questioning my own taste in style by random bargain purchases. Why? Because I hate shopping. I hate making choices and I hate the tug-of-war voices in my head yelling back and forth to each other that “You should not spend the money on clothes you don’t need!” Or “you should indulge because you work hard, dammit.” (Anyone else go through these types of tortuous events?)

Then I discovered my one true love, (harps playing) … The Subscription Box. (Angels’ chorus singing.)

I started out with Stitch Fix. You take a styling quiz and pay $25 for a styling fee. They send 5 items, you try them on and you send back what you don’t want in a pre-paid shipping envelope/bag. You get credit for the $25 styling fee and 20% off if you keep all 5 items. (It is a monthly/quarterly subscription box.) After about the 5th or 6th box, I felt like I was getting the same exact shirt in different prints. I mentioned it to the stylist they assigned and asked to try a different stylist, but it happened again, so I decided to try a new box. I started Trunk Club by Nordstroms. They charge a $25 styling fee. (They are not a subscription box, you decide when you want your next box.) I really liked it. But honestly, they sent so much stuff, I was overwhelmed. There are 10-12 items in the box and not only was I overwhelmed by the number of items to try on, but I was also completely overwhelmed by how much it would all cost when I added up every item I LOVED. I would much rather spread it out and buy a couple of tops or pants a month versus half a wardrobe. So, even though I do love Trunk Club, I decided to try a new one:

DAILYLOOK is $40 styling fee (you also take a quiz) and that is credited to your purchase.  If you buy 3 or more products, you’ll receive a specific discount. The quality of clothing is much greater than Stitch Fix and a wider variety.  They sent stuff I would’ve never picked out in a store, like this black jumper:

Since I was having such good luck, I decided to also try WANTABLE, just because, you know, the convenience was becoming an addiction.

I LOVE Wantable, it’s probably my fave of all the ones I’ve tried. They have different “edits.” Style Edit: for everyday clothes. Active Edit: for workout clothes. They also have seasonal boxes like: A Cozy Edit. I ended up keeping the black pants and the coziest black sweater ever! I wear it with everything! I’m not a huge tunic-wearer and I’m a Diet Coke fan, so I sent those tops back, along with the black jacket, only because I have TWO just like it! This is what an “edit” looks like:

THEN I received an invitation from AMAZON PRIME WARDROBE

Pink Sweater, Jeans, My well-loved Uggs

It’s $4.99/month that is not credited with any purchases, you just pay the fee. I’ve only received 2 boxes and I’m not truly in love as a whole, but I’ve found a couple of cute items.

Geo Top, Black Pants, My Fave Jessica Simpson Belemo Red Suede Pumps

Subscription boxes might not be for everyone, but I sure do love them!

My husband and I just bought a new house, so I’m temporarily grounded from buying anything at the moment. But I can promise you by this spring, I’ll be back and better than EVER!

If you have any questions about the boxes, I’m happy to help!

Hope you’re all having a great start to 2021and if you haven’t been COVID-vaccinated yet, I hope you’re getting that ole bicep ready! I know I am.

Stay safe and healthy, friends!

XO, Kim
